Year 9 Science

There are 2 Key Stage 3 units of study in Year 9, which will covered between September and February:

SAT style test

After February half term, all year 9 Students will take a SAT style test.  The test will take 1 hour, with questions from all the topics studied in Key Stage 3 (years 7 to 9).  All students sit the same level 3-8 paper.

After Easter

After Easter the students will begin their science GCSEs.  We will be following the AQA Science course, with all students studying all three sciences.  Students will be entered for either two GCSEs or three GCSEs.  Further information on the course itself can be found on the AQA website AQA GCSE Sciences 2011 – The Science Lab or on the Key Stage 4 area of this science website.

Homework

Science homework will be set weekly. Teacher will set homework that is relevant to the topic being studied. Details of the homework set should be recorded in the planner, and in some cases will be detailed on the teachers webpage (accessed by clicking on the picture of the teacher). In some cases homework project booklets will be set. These projects will usually be set as two weeks worth of homework.
