October
Sergei Eisenstein (1927)
In documentary style, events in Petrograd are re-enacted from the end of the monarchy in February, 1917 to the end of the provisional government. We see the provisional government’s disastrous continuation of the First World War and Lenin’s return to Russia in April.
In July, counter-revolutionaries put down a spontaneous Bolshevik revolt, and Lenin’s arrest is ordered.
By late October, the Bolsheviks infiltrate the Winter Palace and overthrow the provisional government.
