The GCSE consists of six units:

  1. Physical Geography
  2. Human Geography
  3. Controlled Assessment

Practising past questions is a great way to revise. All the past papers and markschemes can be found on the AQA website.

 

GCSE Assessment

The course has two tiers: Foundation (grades C - G) and Higher (grades A* - D). There are three assessments which contribute to the final grade.

Physical Geography: 1.5 hour exam taken at the end of year 11 (37.5% final grade)

Human Geography: 1.5 hour exam taken at the end of year 11 (37.5% final grade)

Controlled Assessment: 2000 word report based on primary data collection (25% final grade)

Throughout the course there will be end of unit assessments so that progress can be tracked. These results will also be considered by teachers when entering students for exam tiers.
